Privacy Policy

Welcome to "Same Frame" (Chinese name: "同一帧", the "App"). The App is provided by Bitter Water Studio. It is a photo utility for repeated photography, reference-image alignment, project management, capture reminders, and photo/video export.

This Privacy Policy explains how we access, collect, use, store, and share information when you use the App. We respect your privacy and only handle information for the purposes described in this policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App or its services.

The App currently does not provide account registration, its own cloud sync, or Android system cloud backup. Project data, reference images, captured photos, cover settings, and reminder settings are primarily stored locally on your device.

When you use third-party services, such as Google Play, Google AdMob, or Google User Messaging Platform, their own privacy policies may also apply.

1. Information We Collect or Access

The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask you to provide your name, phone number, government ID number, bank account, contacts, health information, or precise location information.

The App may access, generate, or store the following types of information only as needed for app functionality:

  1. Camera preview and captured photos. When you capture a baseline photo, calibrate a reference image, or take repeat photos, the App accesses your device camera. Camera preview is used for alignment and capture. Captured photos are stored locally on your device. We do not automatically upload your camera preview or photos to our servers.
  2. Images you select or import. When you choose an image from the system photo picker or file picker as a reference image, project cover, or category-related image, the App reads the file you selected and uses it locally for project display and alignment. Unless you actively export, share, or back up the file, the App does not upload it.
  3. Project and capture data. The App may store project names, categories, reference image paths, cover styles, shortcut icon settings, capture records, photo timestamps, sorting preferences, calibration parameters, reminder schedules, and other app settings locally on your device to provide project management and repeat-capture features.
  4. Exported video files. When you use the video export feature, the App generates video files locally on your device from the photos in your project. You control whether to save, share, or delete those exported files.
  5. Reminder and notification information. If you enable capture reminders, the App stores reminder times, intervals, weekday settings, and similar information locally on your device, and uses system notifications to remind you to capture. We do not send reminder content to our servers.
  6. Home screen shortcut information. When you create a project shortcut, the App may use the app icon, generated color blocks, category image, current project cover, or reference image as the shortcut icon based on your choice. This information is used on your device to open the related project or capture flow.
  7. Device, advertising, and diagnostic information handled by third-party SDKs. The App uses Google AdMob to provide advertising and Google User Messaging Platform to manage advertising consent choices where applicable. Google SDKs may process device information, advertising identifiers, approximate network information, app interaction information, ad impressions and clicks, crash or performance data, and similar data according to Google's policies.

2. How We Use Information

  1. To provide core features, including project creation, baseline capture, reference-aligned repeat photography, reference calibration, photo viewing, photo deletion, project cover selection, home screen shortcuts, and video export;
  2. To save project data, photo records, reminder settings, and app preferences locally on your device;
  3. To send capture reminders you have enabled through system notifications and, where possible, restore local reminder schedules after device reboot;
  4. To show ads, measure advertising performance, prevent fraud, and maintain ad service security through Google AdMob;
  5. To maintain app stability, troubleshoot issues, improve compatibility, and provide user support.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not actively share your locally stored project photos, reference images, or capture records with third parties.

Information may be shared or processed by third parties in the following situations:

  1. With your consent or when initiated by you, such as when you export or share photos or video files through the system share sheet;
  2. With service providers or SDK providers, such as Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform, to provide advertising, advertising measurement, fraud prevention, and app operation services;
  3. When required by applicable laws, regulations, legal procedures, or government requests;
  4. To protect the rights, property, security, or legal interests of users, the developer, or others.

4. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

  1. Project data, reference images, photo records, exported files, and app settings are primarily stored locally on your device.
  2. You can delete projects or photos in the App. When deleting a project, the App may offer options such as clearing data while keeping image files, or deleting both images and data, as shown in the App interface.
  3. You may also delete locally stored app data by clearing the App's data in your device settings or uninstalling the App. Files that you have exported or saved to other locations may not be deleted together with app data.
  4. Data handled by Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform is retained and deleted according to Google's privacy policy, advertising settings, and applicable law.
  5. If you contact us by email, we may retain your message for support and record-keeping purposes unless you request deletion where applicable.

5. Cookies, Advertising Identifiers, and Similar Technologies

  1. The App itself does not use website cookies to collect personal information.
  2. Third-party SDKs, including Google AdMob, may use advertising identifiers or similar technologies to provide, limit, measure, and improve ads.
  3. You can manage personalized ads, advertising identifiers, and related choices through your device settings or Google's advertising settings.

6. Information Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App. Local app data is stored using the Android system storage mechanisms available to the App. Please note that no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We recommend that you keep your device, system account, and exported photo or video files secure.

7. Permission Explanations

The App may request or use the following Android permissions:

  1. Camera permission. Used to capture baseline photos, repeat photos, and reference calibration images. Without camera permission, capture-related features cannot work.
  2. Notification permission. Used to send capture reminder notifications after you enable project reminders. You can disable notification permission in system settings, but reminder notifications may no longer appear.
  3. Boot completed permission. Used to restore local capture reminder schedules that you have enabled after your device restarts. This permission does not allow the App to read your personal content.
  4. Network access. Used to load ads and related service content through Google AdMob. Network access may also support advertising consent management, ad measurement, and service security.
  5. Advertising ID and ad services permissions. Used by Google AdMob and Android advertising services for ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, attribution, and related purposes, subject to Google's policies, Android system capabilities, and your device settings.

The App currently does not request precise location permission. If we add location-based features such as geofence reminders in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before releasing those features and request your authorization through system permission prompts and in-app explanations where required.

You can manage app permissions in your device settings. If you deny or disable certain permissions, features such as camera capture, reminder notifications, or advertising-supported services may not work properly.

9. Protection of Minors

Same Frame is a general photo utility and is not designed specifically for children. If you are under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing, please use the App with the consent and guidance of your parent or guardian.

We do not knowingly collect children's personal information directly. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to handle the request.

10. Effectiveness and Updates of this Privacy Policy

  1. This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date of publication.
  2. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time due to changes in app features, legal requirements, SDKs, or business operations. If we make material changes, we will make the updated policy available in the App or other appropriate locations. Your continued use of the App after the update means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
